About the Movie

Neelathamara' is a remake of the 1979 Malayalam classic having the same title. This is the first time a malayalam film is being remade. The original film was directed by Yusuf Ali Kecheri and had Ambika, Ravikumar and Sattar in lead roles. The new version will have new comers Archana, Kailash and Suresh Nair in lead roles.

Neelathamara is an absolute symbol of faith in the film, and the blue water lily that blossom when someone prays before the Thevar giving a sign that the dream will materialize. Kunjimalu (Archana) and the hundreds of the villagers who regularly offered money before the Thevar to see the blooming of the blue lotus. Kunjimalu a house maid
is hopelessly in love with Haridas (Kailash), son of Maalukuttiyamma (Sreedevi Unni) whom she works for, and who has seduced her beyond her wits. She soon succumbs to his charm and ends up on his bed, while he moves ahead with his life and marries Ratnam (Samvrutha).

The movie was shot at various locations at Pattambi, Malamakkavu, Chamravattom, Kuttipuram and Thavanur.
